Long sandy beaches in this town and also this inlet, that seemed to offer fairly safe swimming. There was a barrage at the end of it- under where I'm standing.
This is quite something. For about thirty miles there are barrages likes this and dykes - all build after floods in 1953 devastated nearly 10 percent if the country. Really impressive the way that they have controlled the sea - and access to it by old fishing ports on the other side of the dykes and barrages.
